ATTENTION: CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Due to the unprecedented circumstances we are facing in Sumter County we have had to cancel the tournament indefinitely. All of the resources from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Sumter Police Department and other public safety personnel have been working their hearts out helping our citizens. Aside from the logistics of personnel resources and the conditions of the course, even if we could hold it we feel that this is not the right time to proceed as there has been so many of our fellow citizens and officers who have suffered and lost so much this week.

Once things subside and we have a chance for a board meeting we will discuss the matter further. As for now, if you wish for a refund we understand and will try to begin accommodations sometime next week. Otherwise, we will try to let you know something as soon as we can. Thank you again for all of your support and please keep Sumter in your thoughts and prayers.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and those in the Sumter community who helped make this happen. Please stop by the Sumter County Judicial Center and take a look and please take a moment to remember those who gave their lives.

Scholarship announcement

The board of directors for the Charlie Kubala Memorial Trust voted last year to start offering scholarships to local high school students. We have crafted a set of guidelines for the scholarships and established a review committee. We are pleased to announce that the application is now available for the first round of scholarships and will be open through June 30, 2015. Starting off we are offering (3) $1,000 individual scholarships. Winners will be notified in advance and will be publicly announced and honored at this year's golf tournament in October. The Sumter community has been incredibly supportive of local law enforcement and we are honored to pass it on to support the future of our beloved Sumter. For more information about the scholarship or to apply, click the Scholarship tab at the top of the page.

Exciting News

The Board of Trustees has recently voted to expand the scope of our cause. We are really excited to announce two new projects that we are taking on. First, we are going to begin offering a few annual scholarships to local high school students. A committee is being formed that will finalize the format & requirements, then they will be responsible for evaluating applications and making recommendations to the Board of Trustees for a final vote. We thought that this would be a great way to give back to the Sumter community that has been so incredibly gracious to us over the years.

Second is a really big project that we are going to need a LOT of help with. Sumter County is one of the few counties in South Carolina that has never had any sort of memorial for fallen law enforcement. We thought that with the new Judicial Center having recently opened that it would be a great time to consider sponsoring such a project. Last Wednesday a vote was unanimously made to move forward with this idea. This year's tournament will be dedicated to raising funds to erect a monument honoring local fallen officers. There will be some new opportunities coming soon to be able to help with this great cause.

Please spread the word and help us honor those that have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect us all.
